D Toz easy winner of Don McNeill Stakes

Dustin Orona Photography D Toz wins the Don McNeill Stakes at Remington by two lengths Saturday.

D Toz was always prominent for a two-length win over Cowboy Mischief in the $75,000 Don McNeill on Saturday night at Remington Park.

The race was one of two stakes on the card. Dicey rallied for a length win over She’s Shiney in the $75,000 Slide Show.

The mile stakes were both restricted to 2-year-olds bred in Oklahoma.

D Toz ($9.20) attended fractions of 23.90 seconds for the opening quarter and 47.29 for the half-mile before taking over through six furlongs in 1:12.86. He went on to cover the distance in 1:39.99.

“This horse has just matured so much over two, three races,” winning rider Lane Luzzi told publicity at Remington. “From the rail position I knew I had to commit to being either close to the pace or just off the pace. Out of the gates he was pretty keen, but he put me in a good position that I was confident to get him to relax around there.”

Danny Pish trains D Toz for Richter Family Trust and B.J. Richter. The son of Chitoz has now won two of three starts and earned $78,269.

Dicey ($14.20) won her second race from five career starts in the Slide Show, which was for fillies. She covered the mile on a fast track in 1:41.64.

“When it was time to go, she listened,” winning rider Kevin Roman told officials at Remington.

Dicey is a daughter of Flat Out who is trained by Patrick Swan. Swan co-owns the filly with Jay Lewis.

Dicey has now earned $78,108.

* Remington leading trainer Steve Asmussen won four races on the nine-race program Saturday.
