Cy Seven in career form
Cy Seven, who set a course record at Sam Houston in February, will seek his second win of the Lone Star meet in Sunday’s fourth race, an optional $40,000 claimer at a mile on turf. The nine-horse field includes Gaelico, who has been racing at Fair Grounds, and Real Deal Appeal, the fourth-place finisher in the Grade 3 Texas Mile who is entered for the main track only Sunday.
Cy Seven set a course record at Sam Houston for 1 1/16 miles on turf Feb. 24, when he won a $20,000 conditioned claimer in 1:42.39. Cy Seven romped by 14 3/4 lengths, then won a first-level allowance at a mile on turf April 11 at Lone Star. He earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 90 at Lone Star.
David Cabrera rides Cy Seven for trainer Jack Van Berg. Cy Seven races for the Dream Walkin’ Farms operation of country artist Toby Keith and his family. The horse is a 4-year-old by Tiznow.
