Wonder of Wonders, the runner-up in the English Oaks last month, will be an odds-on favorite against a strong field in Sunday’s Group 1 Irish Oaks at the Curragh.One of three runners in the race trained by Aidan O’Brien, Wonder of Wonders will be after her first group stakes win in the Irish Oaks, which is run over 1 1/2 miles on turf and is worth approximately $600,000.O’Brien also starts the outsiders Amazing Beauty and Gemstone.Wonder of Wonders has won 2 of 5 starts. She won a maiden race over 1 1/2 miles at Tipperary, Ireland, on April 28 in her third career start, and the listed Cheshire Oaks at Chester Racecourse in England on May 4.There are nine entrants in the Irish Oaks. Wonder of Wonders will be tested by Banimpre, who won the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot in June; Dancing Rain, the winner of the English Oaks in a 20-1 upset; and Blue Bunting, the winner of the English 1000 Guineas who was fourth in the English Oaks.Blue Bunting will be ridden by Frankie Dettori, who was aboard for her last two starts. In the English Oaks, Blue Bunting was the 9-4 favorite and missed third by a short head after Dettori eased her down late. He was hit with a 10-day suspension for not riding to the wire.
