Cupid rerouted to Oaklawn's Rebel Stakes

Cupid, a stylish maiden-race winner Feb. 7 in his third start, worked six furlongs in 1:11.60 on Friday at Santa Anita.
Cupid was entered in Saturday’s $400,000 San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita, but trainer Bob Baffert said Cupid would be withdrawn in favor of a likely start in the Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park on March 19.
There were 243 recorded works Friday in advance of an expected rainstorm later in the day.
Beholder, the three-time champion, worked a half-mile in 49.20 seconds, her third major exercise this month. Trainer Richard Mandella has adjusted Beholder’s workout days to avoid recent wet weather. He has targeted the $400,000 Vanity Stakes on June 4 as her first major target of the year.
Taris, the leading candidate for the $500,000 Santa Margarita Stakes at 1 1/8 miles on turf for fillies and mares March 19, worked five furlongs in 1:02.80. Trainer Simon Callaghan said he moved the workout forward by a day because of the expected storm.
“She had her fast work the week before,” Callaghan said.
Her Emmynency, the winner of the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland last October, worked five furlongs in 1:00.80. Fourth in the Grade 2 Buena Vista Stakes on Feb. 20 in her 2016 debut, Her Emmynency is scheduled to run in the $200,000 Santa Ana Stakes for fillies and mares at 1 1/8 miles on turf March 26.
