RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
DEL MAR, Calif. – California-based stakes winners Cupid and It Tiz Well are now bound for Saratoga stakes next month after recording quick workouts at Del Mar on Thursday.
Cupid, the winner of the Grade 1 Gold Cup at Santa Anita on May 27 in his lone start this year, worked six furlongs in 1:12.40. A 4-year-old, Cupid is a candidate for the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes at 1 1/8 miles at Saratoga on Sept. 2.
“He worked really well,” trainer Bob Baffert said. “It looks like he’s ready.”
Cupid missed the Grade 2 Suburban Stakes at Belmont Park last month after being diagnosed with an illness in June.

It Tiz Well, the winner of the Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes at Oaklawn Park and the Grade 3 Delaware Oaks this year, worked five furlongs in 58.80 seconds, the fastest of 65 recorded works at the distance. Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer timed It Tiz Well galloping out six furlongs in 1:11.58.
“I think she just did it easy,” Hollendorfer said.
It Tiz Well is scheduled to start in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 19.
Show It N Moe It targets Generous Portion
Show It N Moe It will remain in the California-bred 2-year-old filly division after winning her stakes debut in Wednesday’s $100,690 California Thoroughbred Breeders Association Stakes at Del Mar.
Trainer Gary Sherlock said after the race that he is likely to target the $100,000 Generous Portion Stakes for California-bred fillies at six furlongs Aug. 30.
“She’s getting better all the time,” Sherlock said.
Show It N Moe It ($12.20) won the CTBA Stakes by 1 1/2 lengths over 8-5 favorite Kimberlea K, who set the pace. Show It No Moe It ran 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:05.11.
“It went perfectly,” Sherlock said. “I wouldn’t ask for anything different.”
The win gave 20-year-old apprentice jockey Evin Roman his first stakes win at Del Mar and was the first stakes win for Show It N Moe It’s sire, Grace Upon Grace, who stands at Terry Lovingier’s Lovacres Ranch in California.
Lovingier bred Show It N Moe It and owns the filly in partnership with Tom London and Eugene Zondlo.
Roman tied for the riding title at the Santa Anita spring-summer meeting that ended July 4 and won the riding title at the Los Alamitos summer meeting that ended July 16.
Single-ticket pick six pays $603,613
The single-ticket pool of the pick six paid $603,613 at Del Mar on Wednesday and was conquered by a bettor at The Meadowlands in New Jersey.
The ticket was sold for $3,880.
The winning ticket beat five favorites Wednesday. The winners of the pick-six races were Bombardeo ($5.80), Deal With It Dude ($16.80), Kenriya ($17.80), Miss Remembering ($20.20), Show It N Moe It ($12.20), and Pistol Packin Rose ($7.60).
Only Bombardeo was favored. Consolation tickets with five winners were worth $716.
The single-ticket jackpot portion of the pool began with a carryover of $441,293 from Sunday. Bettors added $250,218 on Wednesday.
Risenhoover to make Del Mar debut
Sasha Risenhoover, a fixture at Midwest tracks in recent years, gets her first Del Mar mount aboard Terra’s Angel in Saturday’s Grade 2 Sorrento Stakes for 2-year-old fillies.
Risenhoover finished third in the standings at the Lone Star Park spring-summer meeting that ended last month and tied for the riding title at Retama Park last year. Earlier this week, Risenhoover said she was ready for a challenge, leading to her move to California.
“I’ve got a title,” she said. “I’ve been leading rider in Texas. It wasn’t enough. I grew up watching the races out here, thinking how awesome it would be to ride here. I never thought I would have the chance.”
Terra’s Angel is a familiar filly for Risenhoover, who has won 77 races this year. Risenhoover, who turned 27 on Friday, rode Terra’s Angel to a win in a maiden special weight race at 4 1/2 furlongs in her debut at Lone Star Park on May 13.
“The caliber she beat is not the caliber she’s facing,” Risenhoover said.
“The distance is what I’m worried about. We’ve been working her a half-mile and five-eighths, and she’s always galloped out strong.”
Terry Eoff co-owns Terra’s Angel and trained the filly for her debut. Terra’s Angel is now trained by Dallas Keen.
