Cup reelects Farish as chair

The Breeders' Cup board of directors has unanimously re-elected its chairman, William S. Farish Jr., to a one-year term, the organization announced on Friday.

Farish was first elected chairman in 2006, replacing Robert Clay. That same year, the Breeders' Cup trimmed its board from 46 members to 13.

Also Friday, the Breeders' Cup board voted to continue to contribute funding to the Equine Drug Research Institute in California for an additional three years.

The institute was founded three years ago as a component of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation with funding from industry sources to research new drug-detection tests.
