Cumberland Run: Repeaters galore in Kentucky Sire Stakes for 4YOs

Bath Bomb, Ordained, Pizzelle and Women Layer all won for the second straight time in $50,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes events for 4-year-olds on Sunday afternoon at Cumberland Run.

In the mare pace Bath Bomb (Andy McCarthy) won from the pocket in 1:51 1/5. The daughter of Lather Up, bred by Mark Smith, is trained by Per Engblom for owner Morrison Racing Stables and paid $2.46 to win.

Ordained (Yannick Gingras) popped out of the pocket before three-quarters his division for male trotters and went on to defeat a rallying Alamo Mission (Dexter Dunn) by a neck in 1:54 3/5 for trainer Ron Burke. Owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Beasty LLC. and Frank Baldachino, Ordained is a Father Patrick gelding. Bred by J&T Silva Stables, LLC., he returned $4.92 to win.

Pizzelle (Todd McCarthy) brushed to the point past the quarter in the mare trot and never looked back, tallying by three-quarters of a length in 1:54 4/5. Carter Pinske trains the Brittany Farms-bred by Walner for owners Donald and Michael Robinson, Harold Bauder and Steve Stewart, and she paid $3.56 to win.

Women Layer (Dunn) got away fourth in the male pace but moved to the top on the way to the half and won by two lengths in 1:50 for trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. and owners Let It Ride Stables Inc., Jeff Fought Racing, Larry Wills and Jesmeral Stable. Bred by Carl Howard, Women Layer is a gelded son of Sweet Lou and returned $2.22 to win.

There was a second grouping for male trotters on the program, and Hung Over (Marvin Luna) was a 1:54 2/5 victor after he took charge out of the pocket before the half-mile marker. Bob Stewart sent out the son of Creatine for breeder/co-owner Bluestone Farms LLC. and co-owner Lynda Stewart. He paid $4 to win.

These were the final Kentucky Sire Stakes races for 4-year-olds this year.
