Local Honey and Memorynimagination won the $70,000 Kentucky Sires Stakes finals for 2-year-old trotters that were contested on Monday afternoon's program at Cumberland Run.
The filly dash was an action-packed affair that saw Summer Young (Andy Miller) on the lead at the 29 second opening quarter, but she would be overtaken by favored Bonn (Peter Wrenn) and The Roxbury (David Miller) before the 58 3/5 half. The Roxbury, who wound up three-wide most of the opening-half from post eight before clearing to the front, came under immediate attack from a first-over Local Honey (Marvin Luna), and Local Honey blew by The Roxbury en route to the 1:28 2/5 three-quarters.
After Local Honey hit the point, she had to deal with a first-up bid by Stella Volo (Tony Hall), and those two fillies would duel throughout the 29 3/5 final panel, but Local Honey was determined on the inside and held sway by a length in 1:58. Stella Volo fought off The Roxbury, who was also game after the wide journey in the first half, for third.
A Walner filly, Local Honey is trained by Tony Alagna for owner/breeder Brittany Farms. Local Honey has three wins from ten starts, has earnings of $64,950 and paid $16.34 to win as a 7-1 shot.

In the race for colts and geldings, Memorynimagination (Anthony MacDonald) went three-wide from second-over on the final bend and rallied through the stretch to a one length victory in 1:57 1/5. Fly By (A. Miller) put up fractions of 28 1/5, 59 and 1:27 1/5 but had to settle for second and Splendid (Hall) checked in third after doing the work from first-over.
Memorynimagination, bred by Coyote Wynd Farms, is a Father Patrick gelding trained by Eric Patalan for owners Thestable Memrynimaginatn and Hutchison Harness LLC. He has a summary of 3-2-2 from 11 appearances, has pocketed $135,762 and returned $5.20 to win as the second choice.
