The Kentucky Sires Stakes returned to Cumberland Run on Monday afternoon with the final preliminary leg for 2-year-olds of both sexes and gaits. Each event carried a purse of $40,000.
Todd McCarthy was the leader on the card, taking four of the divisions. He won a filly trot with Divine Thing (by Greenshoe, bred by Crawford Farms, paid $2.44 to win) in 1:55 2/5 for trainer Steve Carter and owners Jay Mossbarger, Brent Hopper and Kyle Gray, a colt and gelding pace with Bourbon County (by Always B Miki, bred by Big Als Stables, paid $3.02 to win) in 1:51 1/5 for trainer Tony Dinges and owners William Salmeri, Rick Berks and Steve Elliott, a filly pace with Ronstadt (by Captaintreacherous, bred by owners Brittany Farms and Marvin Katz, paid $13.08 to win) in 1:52 2/5 for trainer Tony Alagna and a colt and gelding trot with Hard Seven (by Chapter Seven and bred by Ola Yoder, paid $3.52 to win) in 1:54 3/5 for trainer Nancy Takter and owners Let It Ride Stables Inc., Maurice Chodash and Boca Racing LLC.
David Miller, Andy McCarthy and Yannick Gingras all had doubles.
Miller prevailed in a filly trot with Admiring (by Walner and bred by co-owner Tony Holmes with Walter Zent, paid $6.20 to win) in 1:54 3/5 for trainer Nifty Norman and co-owner June Zent and a colt and gelding trot with Gimpanzee Dancer (by Gimpanzee, bred by co-owner Derek Ivany, paid $3.62 to win) in 1:55 3/5 for co-owner/trainer Chris Beaver.

The elder McCarthy's triumphs came in a filly pace with Caviart Delight (by Always B Miki, bred by co-owner Caviart Farms, paid $2.78 to win) in 1:52 for trainer Tony Alagna and co-owner Alagna Racing LLC. and a colt and gelding pace with Do What U Do (by Lazarus, bred by Roll The Dice Stable, paid $9.58 to win) in 1:52 for trainer Tahnee Camilleri and owner Curtis Daniels.
Gingras teamed up with trainer Ron Burke for both of his victories. They connected in a filly pace with Accede (by Tall Dark Stranger, bred by Donald Robinson, Michael Robinson, Steve Stewart and James Daut, paid $4.08 to win) in 1:52 for owners Thomas Dillon, Scott Dillon and Craig Henderson and in a colt and gelding trot with Big Shoes (by Greenshoe, bred by co-owner Knox Services Inc., paid $3.58 to win) in 1:55 for co-owners Burke Racing Stable LLC. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Yo Tillie, who was bred by GBW Breeding Farms Inc. and Black Creek Farm, captured the remaining split for filly trotters in 1:55 1/5 for owner/trainer/driver Verlin Yoder. The daughter of Tactical Landing paid $2.40 to win.
