CTHS winners hook up

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Eight by Ten and Bella Mariella, winners of their respective divisions of the restricted Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society Sales Stakes last time out, meet here Sunday in the $45,000 Buffalo Stakes at Assiniboia Downs.

All 10 Manitoba-bred 2-year-olds entered in the Buffalo will try a route for the first time.

Trained by Lise Pruitt, Eight by Ten scored his first win in the colts and geldings division of CTHS Sales Stakes in his fourth start.

Eight by Ten will break from the rail under Jerry Pruitt.

Bella Mariella won the fillies division of the CTHS Sales Stakes in her second start after finishing third in the restricted Frank Arnason Sire Stakes in her debut.

Trained by Martin Drexler, Bella Mariella starts from the extreme outside in post 10 with Paul Leacock.

Still Flying finished second, four lengths behind Bella Mariella, when making her debut in the CTHS Sales. She is trained by Curtis Maxwell.

Jockey Clint Magera replaces Jerry Pruitt on Still Flying, who will break from post 7.

Meow Wow finished third behind Bella Mariella and Still Flying in her most recent.

Trained by Randy Gray, Meow Wow won her career debut and then was second in the Frank Arnason in her next start. She starts from post 5 with Alan Cuthbertson up.

Dust de Gold was third, 10 1/2 lengths behind Eight by Ten, in his latest. The Harry Kube trainee begins from post 8 with Mark Anderson.

Trainer Blair Miller sends out Naughty Thoughts and Battlestation, the fourth- and fifth-place finishers behind Eight by Ten.

Robert May replaces Cuthbertson on Naughty Thoughts, who will start from post 2.

Chris Husbands rides Battlestation from post 6.

Also entered are Queen Tina (Tim Gardiner, post 3), Pulledmeout (Ken Hendricks, post 4), and Exit Zero (Flip Nollar, post 9).
