CTHS sale still on schedule for Sept. 3 at Woodbine
ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The Ontario division of the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society has announced that it’s planning on conducting the 2020 Canadian Premier yearling sale as scheduled on Thursday, Sept. 3, at Woodbine.
A press release from the CTHS stated: “If the unknowns at this time change because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will plan and adapt after consultations with our members and prepare to facilitate and focus on new arrangements. The sale is of imperative importance to Ontario Thoroughbred breeders and purchasers, and our focus is to produce and provide a successful sale.”
Deadline for entries is June 1, with a refund in all fees if yearlings are withdrawn by July 15. Contracts will be mailed out in May.
Four yearling sales stakes are scheduled for Sept. 2 at Woodbine – the $250,000 Simcoe for male 2-year-olds, the $250,000 Muskoka for 2-year-old fillies, the $135,000 Elgin for male 3-year-olds, and the $135,000 Algoma for 3-year-old fillies.
It also was announced that the 2020 CTHS awards dinner has been canceled. The CTHS board made a resolution that the event will be held in 2021, in conjunction with honoring the successful breeders of 2020.
