CTHS Alberta mixed catalog attracts 114

The catalog for the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Alberta Division) Alberta Thoroughbred sale is now available online, with 114 yearlings, broodmares, weanlings and horses in training on offer.

The sale will be held Sunday, Sept. 20 at the Northlands Park Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, beginning at 1 p.m. Mountain.

A collection of 100 yearlings make up the bulk of the catalog, along with eight broodmares, four juveniles, a 5-year-old in training, and a weanling.

Canadian-bred yearling graduates of the CTHS Alberta sale, as well as sales hosted by the British Columbia and Manitoba chapters, will be eligible for the newly-formed CTHS Western Sales Stakes Series in any of those three provinces starting in 2016. Each graduate will be eligible for $300,000 in purses through the various Sales Stakes program races from ages 2 to 4.

Stallions represented by their first yearlings in the Alberta Thoroughbred sale catalog include Atta Boy Roy, Calimonco, Dialed In, Mister Do It, and Numaany. The catalog’s lone weanling is from the first crop of sire Heavenly Chorus, while new sire Rascal Cat is represented by a mare in foal from his first book at stud.
