Crude Velocity to be freshened
:quality(75))
Ciara Bowen Crude Velocity will not run in the Grade 1 Haskell on July 18.
Crude Velocity, the Grade 2 Pat Day Mile winner who finished second to Englishman in the Grade 1 Woody Stephens, will not run in the Grade 1 Haskell on July 18, said trainer Bob Baffert.
“I’m going to freshen him up a little bit,” Baffert said. “He’s had a couple of hard races. He’s not ready. He’s fine. I just want to give him more time.”
Baffert said Crude Velocity will remain with him at Churchill. The trainer still plans to stretch Crude Velocity out in distance at some point. The Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby at Parx is run at 1 1/8 miles on Sept. 19.
