Crowley's Law moves into Peter Miller's barn

Crowley’s Law, second to Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Tepin in the Grade 1 First Lady Stakes at Keeneland last month, has joined Peter Miller’s stable, the trainer said this week.
Miller said he hopes to run Crowley’s Law in the $300,000 Matriarch Stakes, a Grade 1 for fillies and mares at a mile on turf at Del Mar on Nov. 29. Crowley’s Law, 4, was listed as not sold for $950,000 at the Fasig-Tipton November sale in Kentucky last Sunday. Miller said a partnership is being formed that will own Crowley’s Law.
Crowley’s Law, by Dubawi, has won 4 of 17 starts and earned $294,307. In 2013 and 2014, she won three times in England, where she was second in the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom earlier this year.
Miller had one runner in the Breeders’ Cup races at Keeneland in Hollywood Don, who finished ninth in the BC Juvenile Turf last Friday. Miller said Hollywood Don might run in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Futurity at 1 1/16 miles on dirt Dec. 12.
Hollywood Don won the Del Mar Juvenile Turf and was third in the Grade 1 FrontRunner Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on dirt at Santa Anita on Sept. 26. Nyquist and Swipe were first and second in the FrontRunner and first and second in the BC Juvenile last Saturday.
Miller was forced to withdraw Appealing Tale from consideration for the BC Dirt Mile when an ankle injury was detected Oct. 25. Appealing Tale underwent surgery Tuesday to have a bone chip removed, Miller said.
“We’re looking at giving him four months off,” he said. “Hopefully, he’ll come back the same horse he’s been.”
Appealing Tale has won 6 of 25 starts and earned $773,222. A 5-year-old gelding owned by Gary Barber, Appealing Tale won the Grade 2 Pat O’Brien Stakes at Del Mar in August and the Grade 2 Kelso Handicap at Belmont Park in October.
