HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Oaklawn leading jockey Cristian Torres will be riding at Churchill next Friday and Saturday, but will be back home for the closing day card in Arkansas on May 5, according to agent Cody Autrey. Torres had three stakes mounts on the Kentucky Derby undercard as of Wednesday. Autrey said he’s scheduled to ride in the Grade 1 Churchill Downs, the Grade 2 Pat Day Mile, and the Grade 2 American Turf. Torres was to have ridden Common Defense in the Kentucky Derby if the bubble horse got in, but trainer Kenny McPeek said Tuesday that Common Defense is no longer under consideration for the race. Torres, who has been dominant at Oaklawn, will be based at Churchill following the end of this meet.   :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! Join DRF Bets.
