Led by his Royal Ascot winning 2-year-old filly Crimson Advocate, trainer George Weaver sent out a quartet of Breeders’ Cup-bound horses for workouts over Saratoga’s Oklahoma turf course Friday morning.
Crimson Advocate, one of three horses Weaver is pointing to the Juvenile Turf Sprint, worked a half-mile in 49.92 seconds. Weaver’s other Juvenile Turf Sprint horses are No Nay Mets and Amidst Waves. No Nay Mets went a half-mile in 47.80 seconds, the fastest of 14 works at the distance, while Amidst Waves went an easy half-mile in 53.63 seconds.
Crimson Advocate will go into the Juvenile Turf Sprint having not run since her victory in the Group 2 Queen Mary on June 21. Friday marked her seventh work at Saratoga since Sept. 3.

“She looked really well, she was striding out down the lane and galloped out strong,” Weaver said. “She’s going into the race the right way.”
No Nay Mets, a son of No Nay Never, has won three of four starts, including the Rosie’s Stakes at Colonial Downs on Sept. 9.
“No Nay Mets is a fairly big, strong colt, we were looking for a decent work today and we got it,” Weaver said.
Weaver said Amidst Waves just ran on Oct. 8 at Keeneland, where she was beaten a nose in the Indian Summer Stakes, so he wasn’t looking for much from her.
Brocknardini, winner of the Selima Stakes at Laurel Park on Sept. 30, went a half-mile in 49.60 seconds on turf for a start in the Juvenile Fillies Turf.
Weaver said all four of his horses would work once more in Saratoga before shipping to California.
◗ Carson’s Run, winner of the Grade 1 Summer Stakes at Woodbine on Sept. 16 for Christophe Clement, worked five furlongs Friday in 1:03.67 over the Oklahoma turf course in company with the older filly Amazing Grace. Carson’s Run is pointing to the Juvenile Turf.
“This was our last aggressive work between now and the Breeders’ Cup,” assistant trainer Miguel Clement said. “He’ll do something easy next week.”
