Creel named racing secretary at Delaware Park
Tom Creel has been named racing secretary at Delaware Park, replacing Jed Doro, who left the position to become director of racing at Oaklawn Park.
Creel, 61, has worked as the assistant racing secretary at Parx Racing the past three years and oversaw the racing department there from last April to October after director of racing Sam Elliott accepted a position elsewhere.
"Tom has a thorough knowledge of Mid-Atlantic racing and will attract new horsemen to Delaware Park because of his many years of experience in the industry," said John Mooney, executive director of racing at Delaware Park.
Creel has been the racing secretary at Suffolk Downs since 2008 and will continue in that position. Previously, he was a racing official at various Eastern tracks, including Finger Lakes, Rockingham Park, Penn National, and Tampa Bay Downs.
"This is a really good opportunity with new career challenges," Creel said.
The 85-day Delaware Park season runs from May 4 to Oct. 5.
