Creed gets his chance on a fast track

Creed, an impressive 7 3/4-length maiden winner in the mud here June 11, meets winners for the first time in a first-level allowance race for 3-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles on Thursday’s card.
Creed a son of Honor Code owned by Edward and Lynne Hudson and trained by Shug McGaughey, took advantage of a four-ply speed duel, made a wide rally around the turn, and cruised to an easy victory over a sealed, muddy surface.

McGaughey said “it’ll be interesting to see,” how Creed handles a fast track.
“Obviously, we know he likes an off track,” he said. “He’s trained good on a fast track. We’ll see if he’s that good on it.”
McGaughey said a victory in the allowance could earn Creed a spot in the Travers Stakes on Aug. 8 at Saratoga.
“It’s probably too ambitious, but I’d have to see how he ran,” McGaughey said.
A field of eight was entered in the allowance. The field includes debut winners Life Changer and Mister Winston for trainers John Terranova and Chad Brown, respectively, as well as Edge of Fire, who was second to the promising Money Moves in a similar spot at Gulfstream in March.
