Crea's Bklyn Law needs top effort in competitive feature

Crea’s Bklyn Law is the one to beat but is by no means a cinch in the feature race at Gulfstream Park on Sunday. The first-level allowance race for 3-year-olds and up drew eight horses. There is a $25,000 claiming option and Fifth Title, one of many contenders, is the only horse for sale in the one-mile race.
After being reclaimed by trainer Peter Walder, Crea’s Bklyn Law romped by five lengths at this level and distance in a race washed off the turf on July 11. The 5-year-old gelding by Sky Mesa came back with a strong effort to finish third in a $12,500 starter race with a $16,000 claiming option on Aug. 14. The 87 Beyer he received for his July 11 win tops the best figure any of his rivals have ever posted, and the 85 he was given for his latest race is the best last-race figure.
Crea’s Bklyn Law does his best running late, and with Louis Le Grande and Prince James in the field there should be enough speed to set him up.
Crea’s Bklyn Law will break from post 2 with Cristian Torres retaining the mount.
The Rasharn Creque-trained Fifth Title was coming off a lengthy layoff when he finished second running over a sloppy track on Aug. 2 at the same level and distance as Sunday’s race. In his previous start, the 7-year-old gelding by Quality Road was an easy 4 3/4-length winner over Crea’s Bklyn Law going a mile in a $16,000 claimer on May 14. In both races he was ridden by Hector Berrios.

Fifth Title has a bit more tactical speed than Crea’s Bklyn Law, and if the pace turns out to be modest he could have a tactical advantage. He is also eligible to move forward in his second start back.
He drew post 3 with Berrios riding.
Trained by Happy Alter, Youcantcatchcurlin was not going to be caught in his last race, a $25,000 claimer for nonwinners of two on July 11. The 3-year-old colt by Curlin out of Youcan’tcatchme held a three-length advantage at the eighth pole and drew off to win the one-mile race by six lengths.
The only other time he ran in a one-turn mile he dead-heated for first with Tons of Gold in a key $35,000 maiden claimer contested over a sloppy track on May 15.
With just five starts, the 3-year-old Youcantcatchcurlin should have some upside.
Emisael Jaramillo will be aboard for the first time when Youcantcatchcurlin breaks from post 7.
El Samuro has not finished worse than second in three starts on dirt, all in one-turn miles. Following his runner-up finish behind next-out winner Tatweej on July 25, he won a maiden special weight race with Torres riding on Aug 16.
He could be dangerous with leading jockey Edgard Zayas riding for trainer Victor Barboza Jr.
