Country Candy will point to E.L. Gaylord Stakes

Country Candy became a stakes winner last Saturday night at Evangeline Downs after having placed in stakes at Churchill Downs and Prairie Meadows. She captured the $60,000 Princess in Louisiana, invading from her base at Remington Park.
Trainer J.R. Caldwell said Country Candy is likely to make her next start at home in the $50,000 E.L. Gaylord. The 6 1/2-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies is Oct. 14.
Caldwell, who sat atop the Remington standings heading into Wednesday night’s card, trains Country Candy for Keene Thoroughbreds. The owner-trainer team has another stakes-winning 2-year-old filly in Bling On the Music, who Caldwell said remains on course for the Grade 2 Pocahontas this month at Churchill.
Remington will post weights of horses
Remington Park on Wednesday night will begin posting the weights of each of the horses in its races. The track will weigh the horses in the holding barn area before they walk over to the saddling paddock. The weights will be made available before the start of the race, to both ontrack and offtrack patrons through digital display.
“It is simple information to collect and provides handicappers an extra tool while giving interesting information to all fans,” said Scott Wells, president and general manager of Remington.
Remington last weighed entrants in the 1990s.
