Cort's P.B. proves uncatchable
Cort's P.B. came back in the stretch to beat the previously undefeated Tensas Phone Call by a head in the $50,000 Cypress at Delta Downs on Saturday night. It was another 7 1/2 lengths back in third to Zarb's Dahar.
The Cypress was one of two stakes on the card restricted to horses bred in Louisiana.
Cort's P.B. ($4.20) set the pace from his rail post in the seven-furlong Cypress, which was run around two turns. He fought late for the win, and covered the distance over a fast track in 1:25.79.
E.J. Perrodin rode Cort's P.B. for trainer Patrick Mouton. The horse earned $30,000 for the victory, and now has a record of 12 wins from 48 starts for earnings of $345,808. Cort's P.B. has won three stakes during his career, including the Thanksgiving Handicap at Fair Grounds in November. He races for Maggi Moss.
In the co-featured $50,000 Camelia, Raspberry Wine drove to a nose win over Calista Ridge. It was another 4 1/2 lengths back in third to favorite Carl's Frosty Girl.
Raspberry Wine ($8.20) waas prominent through under Kerwin Clark, and covered the seven furlongs in 1:26.20. Al Stall Jr. trains the winner for Sport of Kings Racing.
Raspberry Wine earned $30,000 for the win, which was her fourth from 18 starts. She has now earned $188,271.
