ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Corsia Veloce took to the turf like a duck to water in Saturday’s $175,200 Catch a Glimpse Stakes at Woodbine, posting an 11-1 upset in the 6 1/2-furlong sprint for 2-year-old fillies.  Coming off a debut victory on the Tapeta, Corsia Veloce raced about three lengths off the pacesetter Twist of Sugar in fourth on the turn before Fraser Aebly angled her wide for the drive.   Corsia Veloce hit the front around the eighth pole and then held off Sweet Fusion in a 1 1/2-length score, in a time of 1:15.69 over the firm ground. Dyna, the 4-5 favorite, closed belatedly for third in the eight-horse field.   :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! When we hit the head of the lane, I let her tip out, tried to save as much as I could, and she flew home for me. She was a lot more experienced today. She took up the bridle and knew what we were doing.”  An Ontario-bred daughter of Practical Joke, Corsia Veloce ($24.90) earned $108,000 for owners Glenn Sikura and Mario Serani.   The Catch a Glimpse is a prep for next month’s Grade 1 Natalma, and winning trainer Josie Carroll said Corsia Veloce would likely run back in that Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” qualifier.   “She was very precocious from the start, very determined.” Carroll said. “She’s definitely got a mind of her own. She can be a handful on her day, but when she gets over here she puts her game face on, and that’s what you need. The way she ran, she probably punched her ticket [to the Natalma], provided she comes out of the race well.” :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
