Cordiality may target California Distaff Handicap

DEL MAR, Calif. - Cordiality may return to a turf sprint at Santa Anita this fall after winning her second stakes for California-bred turf-mile females in the $151,035 Solana Beach Stakes at Del Mar on Friday.
On Saturday trainer and co-owner Mark Glatt said the $100,000 California Distaff Handicap for statebreds at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course Oct. 13 is a possibility for Cordiality.
Cordiality won the Fran’s Valentine Stakes for Cal-breds at Santa Anita on May 19 and was third in the Grade 3 Wilshire Stakes there June 24.
In the Solana Beach Stakes, Cordiality ($4.60) stalked the pace to the turn and won by 2 1/4 lengths over 14-1 Queen Bee to You.
Ridden by Tyler Baze, Cordiality was timed in 1:34.14.
“It was a good trip,” Glatt said. “She’s just getting good. She showed that when she was third in open company.”
Cordiality is owned by Glatt, Lee Drummond, and John Xitco. By Papa Clem, Cordiality has won 9 of 23 starts and earned $413,595. She was claimed for $32,000 by her current owners at Sacramento in summer 2016 and has since earned $342,935.
“They don’t come around like her very often,” Glatt said.
