Barbara D. Livingston Constellation won the Furlough Stakes by 8 1/4 lengths on Thursday.
OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Constellation, an 8 1/4-length winner of Thursday’s $150,000 Furlough Stakes for 2-year-old fillies, likely will be kept sprinting, according to Alex Solis Jr., the racing manager for her owners, LNJ Foxwoods.
Solis said he hasn’t spoken yet with trainer Steve Asmussen, but the same owners also have Nickname and Inheritance for the route races in the 3-year-old filly division next year.
Solis said he wasn’t sure whether Constellation would winter at Fair Grounds or Oaklawn Park.
“We haven’t really talked about that yet,” Solis said. “I think we’ll keep her sprinting, though.”
Constellation, a daughter of Bellamy Road, ran six furlongs in 1:10.39 in the Furlough and earned an 87 Beyer Speed Figure.
