Conquest Tsunami storms to victory in Victoria

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Conquest Tsunami went straight to the lead and never looked back to capture the first 2-year-old stakes of the Woodbine meet Saturday, the $148,250 Victoria.
Conquest Tsunami ($2.90) prevailed by 7 3/4 lengths under Patrick Husbands, while covering the five-furlong distance in a quick 57.91.
“He did it pretty easy,” said Husbands. “It’s amazing to sit on horses like this. They make you look good.”
After missing the break, Honkeytonk Man rallied wide for second at 23-1. Her rider, Chantal Sutherland-Kruse, claimed foul against the winner for interference at the break, but the result stood. R U Watchingbud outran 9-5 second choice Creaky Cricket for third, and Less Than Perfect trailed in fifth. Conquest Typhoon was scratched.
It was the fourth win in the Victoria for trainer Mark Casse, and the second for Conquest Stable. They combined to win last year’s edition with Conquest Whiplash.
Conquest Tsunami, who won his only other outing in a maiden special at Keeneland, earned $90,000.
Phil's Dream hangs tough
Phil’s Dream put on a gritty display under Justin Stein to take Saturday’s $143,800 Ontario Jockey Club, a six-furlong overnight stakes for older runners.
Phil’s Dream ($4.20) came three wide from a stalking position on the turn to link up with Go Blue Or Go Home in the stretch, and then held that rival off in the final strides to prevail by a neck in 1:09.83.
Longshot True Executive, Phil’s Dream’s stablemate, finished another 1 1/2 lengths back in third in the five-horse race, which had no place or show betting.
