Michael Burns Conquest Daddyo pays $33.80 for winning the Summer under jockey Joe Bravo, giving trainer Mark Casse a sweep of the two turf stakes for 2-year-olds.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario — Conquest Daddyo gave trainer Mark Casse a sweep of the two Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re in qualifiers at Woodbine on Saturday, when he took the Grade 2 Summer under Joe Bravo.

Conquest Daddyo ($33.80) raced near the rear of the field in the one-mile turf route, as Manhattan Dan set fast fractions, while being stalked by favored The Zip Zip Man.

Conquest Daddyo began to mount his rally late on the turn, and then came rolling wide in the stretch to score by 1 3/4 lengths, in 1:36.61 over the “good” ground.

Sky Marshal closed down the center of the course to finish second, and Manhattan Dan held on for third. The Zip Zip Man faded to eighth, in a field reduced to nine after the scratch of Dragon Bay at the gate.

Bravo flew in Saturday morning for the mount on Conquest Daddyo, after racing was canceled at Kentucky Downs, where he was scheduled to ride.

“What a cool little horse,” said Bravo. “He was so quiet and relaxed. Down the backside, I watched the race unfold, and he was so content and in charge of everything. When we got to the top of the lane, I asked him and he was there for us. The whole race he was like that, in control of it all.”

Conquest Daddyo, an Ontario-bred colt by red-hot turf sire Scat Daddy, banked $144,000 of the $226,400 purse in his first stakes success for Conquest Stable.

Conquest Daddyo was the third straight Summer winner for Casse, who also won Saturday’s Grade 2 Natalma with Catch a Glimpse.
