Connie Swingle might take on older in Senator Ken Maddy Stakes

ARCADIA, Calif. – Connie Swingle stretched her unbeaten record on Santa Anita’s hillside turf course to three races with a win in Saturday’s $115,040 Unzip Me Stakes for 3-year-old fillies.
Her next start may come against fillies and mares in the $100,000 Senator Ken Maddy Stakes at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course on Oct. 29.

“If she bounces out of it pretty good, we’ll look at the Ken Maddy,” trainer Phil D’Amato said. “Timing-wise, it’s something to consider.”
Connie Swingle won two allowance races at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the course in May and June. In the Unzip Me Stakes, Connie Swingle ($4.60) closed from third in a field of nine to win by a neck in 1:11.87. A winner of 6 of 9 starts, Connie Swingle earned a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 90 on Saturday for owner and breeder Nick Alexander.
