ARCADIA, Calif. – Concert Tour was a sharp debut winner on Friday for trainer Bob Baffert, who has had high hopes for the Street Sense colt. “We expected something like that,” Baffert said Sunday. “He was training good at Del Mar, but then he had a slight setback. He was pretty ready for that race. He came out of it well.” Concert Tour, who earned an 88 Beyer Speed Figure, was bred and is owned by Gary and Mary West, who sold the promising Derby prospect Life Is Good as a yearling. He, too, wound up with Baffert, and is now 2 for 2 following his victory earlier this month in the Sham Stakes. Medina Spirit, the Sham runner-up, worked four furlongs in 49.80 seconds on Saturday in his first work since that race. Baffert on Sunday said he “had no plans yet” for Medina Spirit, but with Oaklawn opening this week look for Baffert to start making use of that track’s Derby preps beginning next month.
