Concealedwithakiss now 2 for 2 after taking Sorority

Trainer Eddie Plesa Jr. had two entrants in the $75,000 Sorority Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday, 4-1 Perpetual Novena in post 2 and 6-1 Concealedwithakiss in post 5. When Perpetual Novena stumbled badly at the start, Concealedwithakiss picked up the slack and went wire to wire.
Concealedwithakiss outsprinted Florida stakes winner Coco’s Wildcat for the early lead and then led the field on a merry chase to score by two lengths. Coco’s Wildcat , trained by Kathleen O’Connell, tried her best to rein in Concealedwithakiss but had to settle for second. Delaware shipper Comforter finished willingly for third, a neck behind Coco’s Wildcat. The longshot Let’s Parlay finished fourth, a head behind Comforter.
Save Rock and Roll lagged far back early but finished with interest for fifth, beaten a total of 2 1/4 lengths. She should enjoy longer distances when she gets the chance. Perpetual Novena finished seventh and last after her poor start.
Concealedwithakiss was making her second career start. She led all the way to win a $30,000 maiden claiming race by 11 1/4 lengths in her debut. On Sunday, she paid $15.40 as the fifth choice in the betting. She set splits of 22.28 seconds, 45.30, and 57.87 en route to a final time of 1:11.41. She was ridden by Angel Serpa.
Concealedwithakiss is owned by Laurie Plesa and Vincent Rizzuto. She was purchased for $22,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales June auction of 2-year-olds and horses of racing age.
