Commissioner pointing toward Suburban

ELMONT, N.Y. - Commissioner, 2 1/2-length winner of the Grade 3, $300,000 Pimlico Special last Friday, could make his next start in the Grade 2, $500,000 Suburban on July 4, Elliott Walden, president and CEO of WinStar Farm, said Monday.
Commissioner, a son of A.P. Indy owned by WinStar, has now won four races, two at 1 1/8 miles and two at 1 3/16 miles. The Suburban is run at 1 1/4 miles.
“We might look at the Stephen Foster, but the plan was the Pimlico Special to the Suburban,” Walden said. “He’s getting better all the time. He’s an A.P. Indy, he’s supposed to. When he switched leads, he took him there. [Jockey] Javier [Castellano] said he didn’t have to ask him, and that’s the first time that happened.”
Commissioner, trained by Todd Pletcher, earned a 102 Beyer Speed Figure for his Pimlico Special victory.
