Coming off career-best performance, Anydayismyday primed to repeat

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Trainer Edmund Pringle thought Anydayismyday might need a race when he brought her back from an 11-month layoff in a first-level allowance race at Aqueduct last month. However, Pringle had the 4-year-old filly ready to fire, as she pulled off a 12-1 upset, benefitting from a dream trip under Rajiv Maragh.

With five weeks to recover from her career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 80, Anydayismyday looks to clear the second-level allowance condition Friday in the $69,000 feature at Aqueduct, which drew a field of seven fillies and mares. Four of the entrants are in for the optional claiming price of $62,500.

Anydayismyday, racing Friday under the allowance condition, raced five times over the inner track in the winter of 2015-16, with a win and a trio of third-place finishes, including a one-length loss in the Cicada Stakes last March 26.

Anydayismyday was off for 11 months after undergoing surgery to remove knee chips. But she returned in fine fashion, sitting right behind a two-ply pace challenge and seizing an opening along the rail to draw off by 3 1/4 lengths. The horse who finished second that day, Ring Knocker, came back to win a first-level allowance race here on March 3 with a 72 Beyer.

“The race doesn’t look that tough on paper,” Pringle said of Friday’s race. “I’m looking forward for her to repeat if everything goes right.”

Anydayismyday will break from post 4 under Maragh and could get a good setup again behind potential speeds Burn Control, who breaks from the rail, Ranger Lady, and Summer House.

Da Wildcat Girl, an 11-time winner, looks to be the best closer in the field.
