Comely among 10 stakes scheduled for next week

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Though there will be no racing on Thanksgiving Day, Aqueduct will stuff 10 stakes races into three days next week.
Friday’s card includes the Grade 3 Comely for 3-year-old fillies, the Forever Together for fillies and mares on turf, and the Gio Ponti for 3-year-olds on turf.

The Comely is expected to include Black-Eyed Susan winner Miss Marissa, Makingcents, Mrs. Danvers, Shyza, Thankful, and Toned Up. Among the possibles are Gale, Gibberish, Ice Princess, Pure Rhythm, and Villanelle.
On Friday, Ice Princess worked a solid half-mile in 48 seconds over the Belmont Park training track.
Ice Princess started about five lengths behind a pair of stablemates and finished on even terms while galloping out strongly.
“If you don’t have company, she won’t work,” trainer Danny Gargan said. “I needed to get a good work in her.”
Ice Princess, a daughter of Palace Malice, won the Maddie May Stakes for New York-breds at Aqueduct last winter. Most recently, she finished second to Makingcents in the Fleet Indian Stakes for statebreds at Saratoga.
