Come Dancing puts up easy work at Belmont

ELMONT, N.Y. – On a wet, gloomy Thursday morning on Long Island, Come Dancing returned to the work tab, breezing a half-mile in 49.94 seconds over a good Belmont Park training track. Come Dancing, winner of four graded stakes this year including the Grade 1 Ballerina, is pointing to the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint on Nov. 2 at Santa Anita.
Trainer Carlos Martin wanted Javier Castellano to work Come Dancing, so he decided to move the work up to Thursday as Castellano is scheduled to be at Keeneland on Friday and Saturday.

Working at 6:45 a.m., Come Dancing went her opening quarter in 24.47 and her second quarter in 25.47 with her ears forward and Castellano barely moving a muscle.
“Just a little maintenance half, nice and smooth,” Martin said. “She was cooled out in about six minutes. It was a good first step to the Breeders’ Cup.”
Martin said he plans three more works at Belmont for Come Dancing before shipping her to Southern California around Oct. 28.
