Colorado Silver Cup auction catalog now online

The catalog for the 2016 Colorado Thoroughbred Breeders Association Silver Cup yearling sale is now online, and features 66 entries.

The auction will be Saturday, Aug. 6, at Arapahoe Park in Aurora, Colo., beginning at 6 p.m. Mountain.

Yearlings that go through the sale ring during the auction are eligible for the 2017 Silver Cup Stakes at Arapahoe, going 5 1/2 furlongs for an estimated purse of $55,000.

Beginning in 2016, fillies from the Silver Cup sale who finish in the top three in the following year’s $35,000 Filly Debutant Stakes will also receive part of a $20,000 bonus, with 70 percent going to a winning graduate, 20 percent going to a runner-up, and 10 percent to a third-place finisher. That race will also be held at Arapahoe over 5 1/2 furlongs.

First-crop yearling sires represented in the catalog include Behold De Buy, Ez Effort, Prospective, Richard’s Kid, and Smiling Tiger.

Yearlings in the catalog were bred in Colorado, Arizona, Florida, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Texas.
