Colonial: Native Heir pulls wire job

Mike Delnagro|Jun 12, 2004

Native Heir set the pace in the two path and held on to win the $50,000 Punch Line for Virginia-bred or Virginia-sired horses at Colonial Downs in New Kent, Va.

Satan's Code rated third for a half, moved to second in the stretch, and finished fast but lost by a length.

Native Heir, with Ryan Folgelsonger riding, ran the five furlongs on turf in 58.14 seconds and paid $3.60. Only four horses ran; Jaki's Magic and Betyourluckystars were scratched. Now an earner of more than $600,000, Native Heir was scoring his first turf win. He ran fourth in his lone previous turf start, in the Punch Line last year.
