Michael Burns Collecting Flatter is now 2 for 2 after Saturday's triumph in the My Dear Stakes at Woodbine.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Owner Ivan Dalos swept the top two positions in Saturday’s $130,000 My Dear Stakes at Woodbine when the favored Collecting Flatter outran Speedy River to win the 5 1/2-furlong dash for 2-year-old fillies.

With Kazushi Kimura aboard, Collecting Flatter broke sharply and was pressed throughout by Speedy River, who had Luis Contreras in the saddle.

Speedy River drew even with Collecting Flatter at the head of the lane, but Collecting Flatter dug in through the final furlong and prevailed by 1 1/2 lengths, in a time of 1:05.22.

Speedy River held second over the closing Presque Isle Downs shipper Damaso. State of Mind and Cahira’s Blessing completed the order of finish.

Collecting Flatter was the third winner on the card for trainer Josie Carroll. She is now unbeaten in two starts, including a maiden special weight score on June 25.

“It actually took her a little while to come around,” Carroll said. “As we got closer to her first race, we really started to like her. She won nicely, but what I liked more was the way she starting training after (her debut). That race really put her on her game. She was hard to hold in the mornings. She was getting aggressive. She was really enjoying what she was doing. She was just a really happy horse going into this race.”

A Kentucky-bred by the late Flatter, Collecting Flatter returned $5.80 and earned $75,000.
