Ben Colebrook trains a stable of fewer than 20 runners, but three are 2-year-olds who could make their presence felt in 2026. Percy’s Bar will get a winter break after a troubled third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. After being disqualified from first to second in the Grade 1 Alcibiades at Keeneland, a race in which she was best, Percy’s Bar got brushed on the first turn of the Juvenile Fillies, then mugged in upper stretch, still finishing with interest for third. “I went from thinking we were gonna get a big piece of things, maybe even win it, to worrying if she was okay,” Colebrook said. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! Colebrook said he’s not sure whether he’ll turn Percy’s Bar out or keep her at his Keeneland barn but is sure he won’t take the filly on the road until she’s ready to make her 2026 debut. That could come either at Oaklawn or Aqueduct as a prep for the Grade 1 Ashland in April at Keeneland. Gallivant, a 2-year-old colt, debuted with a good third in a fast Keeneland maiden race Oct. 6 and three weeks later won the Bowman Mill there by more than six lengths with a 91 Beyer Speed Figure. Gallivant’s connections don’t consider him a Triple Crown prospect, and Colebrook sees him as a sprinter-miler. To that end, Gallivant seems likely to start in the $225,000 Ed Brown over 6 1/2 furlongs on Nov. 29 at Churchill. Street Beast, who won twice at Kentucky Downs, including the $1 million Juvenile Mile, came out of a solid fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf in good order and will try Turfway Tapeta at some point early next year, Colebrook said. The Leonatus Stakes on Jan. 16 is a leading candidate for Street Beast, whose four races this year came on grass. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
