Cold weather prompts Aqueduct to cancel Friday card

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Aqueduct’s eight-race Friday card was canceled due to extreme cold, according to the New York Racing Association.

It is the third cancellation of the winter meet.

The temperature at 9 a.m. Friday morning was 14 degrees with windchill values near zero. Temperatures were expected to reach the low 20s by Friday afternoon with windchills in the single digits.

Aqueduct was to remain open for simulcasting.

Aqueduct is scheduled to resume live racing Saturday, with a nine-race that includes the $100,000 Jazil and $100,000 Franklin Square Stakes.
