Online voters have selected Cody’s Wish as the Moment of the Year, the National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced Wednesday morning.  Cody’s Wish won the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile on Nov. 5 at Keeneland Racecourse with his namesake in attendance. The horse was named after Cody Dorman, who was born with a rare and disabling genetic disorder, Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome. In multiple visits to the farm where Cody’s Wish was raised, the horse displayed an unusual bond with Dorman. The relationship between the two was documented in print and television stories leading up to the Breeders’ Cup. A story describing the relationship that ran on NBC Sports just prior to the live telecast of the Dirt Mile was selected as the Eclipse winner for Feature Television.  The Moment of the Year, which was inaugurated in 1999, is selected through an online poll. Eleven topics were included this year. This year’s selection will be recognized at the Eclipse Awards ceremony on Thursday night.  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
