Code of Honor, Laughing Fox drill for Travers

Code of Honor and Laughing Fox both put in workouts Sunday morning over the Oklahoma training track in preparation for the Grade 1, $1.25 million Travers Stakes on Aug. 24.
Code of Honor, promoted to second in the Kentucky Derby and winner of the Grade 3 Dwyer Stakes, went a half-mile in 48.30 seconds in company with the recent 3-year-old maiden winner Performer.
Code of Honor started just off the flank of Performer but was on even terms after an opening quarter in 24.55 seconds. The pair got their final quarter in 23.55 and continued out through five furlongs in 1:01.62 and six furlongs in 1:15.45.
“I thought he worked really well,” Shug McGaughey, trainer of Code of Honor said. “I trained him hard for the Fountain of Youth and he seemed to like it. He’s going all on his own, I haven’t put a jockey on him or anything. I’m really pleased with the way he’s doing.”
Laughing Fox, fourth in the Jim Dandy, worked five furlongs in 1:01.69 in company with the New York-bred 3-year-old Bankit. The pair went their opening quarter in 25.04 seconds and final three furlongs in 36.55 while galloping out five furlongs in 1:01.69, six furlongs in 1:15.25 and were up in seven furlongs in 1:29.82.
“They worked so nice,” Asmussen said.
Bankit, recent winner of the New York Derby at Finger Lakes, is pointing to the Albany Stakes here on Aug. 23.
