Coasted bests stablemate in Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf drill

ELMONT, N.Y. – Coasted, the winner of the P.G. Johnson Stakes at Saratoga and third as the favorite in the Miss Grillo at Belmont, worked five furlongs in 1:01.73 over the Belmont Park training track Thursday. Trained by Leah Gyarmati, Coasted is being pointed to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on Nov. 4 at Santa Anita.

Coasted started two lengths behind stablemate Ease His Pain, tracked that one through an opening quarter in 25.72 seconds and three furlongs in 37.42, and drew away in the final furlong while getting a final quarter in 24.31 seconds.
“I thought it was great,” Gyarmati said. “Looks like she did it easy. I didn’t want her to go by too early, wanted her to wait until the stretch. She’s a light filly. She’s fit. She’s run enough. I’m more worried about overdoing it.”
Gyarmati said Coasted is scheduled to ship to Southern California next Thursday.
