Coast to Coast Pick 5 play for Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024
?q=100)
GP RACE 10: PAPILIO was among the leading 3-year-old grass fillies on the continent last year before heading to the sidelines in the fall. The Irish-bred is making her first start with Lasix following the successful Mark Casse work pattern of one or two booming drills before an easy breeze to complete her thorough preparation. SWEET DANI GIRL won her season opener in a restricted stakes and should be prominent with her tactical speed. OCEAN CLUB is another talented comebacker who could make some noise under Edwin Gonzalez, who rides her best. (3)
GP RACE 11: Horse-for-course CANDY MAN ROCKET is unbeaten on the Gulfstream main track and will try to win this stakes for the second year in a row. The son of Candy Ride has been working right along for 2023 Eclipse Award-winning trainer Bill Mott. He was victorious with a 90-plus Beyer Speed Figure in each of his two previous returns from a sabbatical. (1)

SA 5: CATHKIN PEAK is dropping out of graded stakes company to compete with an $80,000 tag in this allowance/optional claimer off an extended layoff and is certainly capable of scoring when fresh. SILVER SURFER didn’t have the smoothest of trips when exiting an eight-month absence in a sprint, which should set him up nicely for the stretch-out to the more suitable one-mile distance. GREAT KING looks ripe for the picking in his third start off the bench under Frankie Dettori. (3)
GP RACE 12: This is as wide open a maiden special on turf that one could imagine, and bettors should use as many as they can afford. AIR INVASION could prevail off a bounce-back third in which he went on Lasix. First-timers BANDOOLA and SET are bred for the grass, and both are in good hands. MO CALIENTE, LIAM’S JOURNEY, and TYPHOON FURY have all been competitive on the turf. Typhoon Fury was disqualified from first in a Nov. 9 maiden special turf sprint at Aqueduct. (6)

SA RACE 7: Linda’s Gift has won two in a row with the aid of an uncontested lead, but she should have company up front from Leisurewear, one of three Phil D’Amato trainees in this 1 1/4-mile Grade 3. The table could be set for D’Amato’s MUSICAL RHAPSODY, who has been giving Linda’s Gift a run for her money and might be ready to peak in the third start of her form cycle. KHINJANI is sent out by sizzling leading trainer Mark Glatt and retains Dettori, who was aboard when she cleared the first local allowance condition going 1 1/4 miles in her debut on this side of the pond. THE PLAY = 4, 5, 10 / 9 / 1, 2, 3 / 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9 / 3, 5 = $108 ticket
