Coach has little trouble with Pippin Stakes

Coach was a commanding winner of the $150,000 Pippin in the slop on Saturday, when she forged to a three-length win over Miss Bigly in the feature at Oaklawn Park.
The one-mile race was for fillies and mares.
Coach ($5.20) was shortening up in distance from an allowance win over 1 1/16 miles last out at Oaklawn, but she showed excellent speed. She broke sharply from the rail and proceeded to set fractions of 23.44 seconds for the opening quarter and 47.60 for the half-mile. She rebuffed a challenge through six furlongs in 1:12.62 and ultimately covered the distance on a sealed track in a strong 1:37.58.
Ricardo Santana Jr. was aboard for Kueber Racing and trainer Brad Cox.
“I thought, given the track condition, Ricardo obviously did a fantastic job of getting her involved,” Cox told publicity at Oaklawn.
Coach is a daughter of Commissioner. She has now won 5 of 10 starts for earnings of $387,840.
Coach’s last two wins at Oaklawn have come on wet tracks, with the allowance run in the mud.
