Clubhouse Ride's future plans undecided

The multiple stakes winner Clubhouse Ride sustained a suspensory injury in the San Antonio Stakes last Saturday, leading to discussions about whether to retire him for immediate stallion service or attempt a comeback later this year, trainer Craig Lewis said on Wednesday.
“There’s some questions about what his future is,” Lewis said. “He might go to stud, or he could come back. It’s being discussed.”
The breeding season traditionally begins February 15, which forces owners Nikolas Petralia and Six-S Racing Stable to make a decision soon. Lewis said there are “some interested parties” in standing Clubhouse Ride.
Clubhouse Ride, 7, was last of nine as a 97-1 shot in the San Antonio Stakes. He was sixth early and faded from contention in the last half-mile.
Lewis said that Clubhouse Ride’s injury is not severe and is not career-threatening.
Clubhouse Ride has won 5 of 43 starts and earned $1,341,132. He won the Barretts Juvenile at Fairplex Park in 2010, and consecutive runnings of the Grade 2 Californian Stakes – at Hollywood Park in 2013 and at Santa Anita last June. Clubhouse Ride was second to Majestic Harbor in the $500,000 Gold Cup at Santa Anita last summer, a race formerly run as the Hollywood Gold Cup.
