Clubhouse Ride moving to stand at Legacy Ranch in 2020

ARCADIA, Calif. – Clubhouse Ride, the leading stallion of 2-year-olds in California this year, will stand the 2020 breeding season at Legacy Ranch in Clements, Calif., according to his former trainer Craig Lewis.
Clubhouse Ride stood the 2019 season at Harris Ranch in Coalinga, Calif., for $2,500. The 2020 fee will be $3,500, according to Lewis, who has a minority share in the stallion primarily owned by Six-S Racing.
“A lot of people thought the fee should be higher, but they want to keep it reasonable,” Lewis said on Sunday.
Through Saturday, Clubhouse Ride has had 14 2-year-old runners and nine winners from his second crop to race this year. The group is led by Warren’s Showtime, the upset winner of the $100,351 Surfer Girl Stakes at Santa Anita on Oct. 6.
Through Saturday, Clubhouse Ride’s 2-year-olds have earned $369,184, closely followed by Stay Thirsty with $348,354.
Warren’s Showtime has earned $104,271 this year, leading all of Clubhouse Ride’s progeny.
Warren’s Showtime, trained by Lewis for Ben and Sally Warren, is a candidate for two stakes at Santa Anita on Nov. 1 – the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf or the $200,000 Golden State Juvenile Fillies for statebreds at seven furlongs.
Clubhouse Ride, by Candy Ride, won 5 of 43 starts and earned $1,341,342 in a six-year career from 2010 to 2015. An 11-year-old, Clubhouse Ride won three stakes, including consecutive runnings of the Grade 2 Californian Stakes at Hollywood Park in 2013 and Santa Anita in 2014.
Clubhouse Ride was bred to a small number of mares in 2015, his first year at stud.
