CloverLeaf Farms II closing

John and Susan Sykes are relocating their bloodstock to Kentucky and will close their CloverLeaf Farms II in Reddick, Fla.

CloverLeaf manager Brent Fernung confirmed the closure Monday.

"He's bought a farm in Kentucky," Fernung said. "He's consolidating the two operations and closing down CloverLeaf II."

Fernung said many of the Sykeses' mares were already in Kentucky to be bred and that the couple ultimately would relocate about 100 mares, foals, and yearlings to the new property. Fernung could provide no further details on the Kentucky farm Sykes had purchased. He said the Florida farm had not been sold.

CloverLeaf II stands 12 stallions, including 2002 Belmont Stakes winner Sarava, Grade 1 winner Pomeroy, and Grade 1-placed Congrats and Repent.

John Sykes, who was at CloverLeaf II on Monday, did not return a call seeking comment.
