Clinton Raceway: Watch My Speed avoids trouble, upsets in Kin Pace final

Watch My Speed got around a mishap late on the far turn and went on to win the C$64,700 Kin Pace final for sophomore Ontario-sired pacing fillies on Sunday afternoon at Clinton Raceway.
Driven by Jody Jamieson, Watch My Speed got away in fourth and ended up with a second-over trip behind favored High Roller Deuce (Doug McNair). High Roller Deuce got to within a length of the leader Tuggingoncredit (Louis-Philippe Roy) at three-quarters, and those two fillies continued to battle on the final bend, with Jamieson pulling three-wide.
While Jamieson was making that move, the complexion of the race changed totally as High Roller Deuce and Tuggingoncredit got their wheels hooked together, taking them both out of contention and dulling the momentum of pocket-sitter Century Gianna (Scott Young). Since she was already going wide, Watch My Speed navigated around the incident without any issue and would pull away in the lane to win by 4 1/4 lengths in 1:56 2/5. Century Gianna wound up second, and Preeminence (Bob McClure) got up for third despite an early break.
Trainer Craig Barss also bred and co-owns the victorious daughter of He's Watching with Nurko Sokolovic. This was her third career victory, and she has now earned C$46,346. A 12-1 shot, she paid $27.60 to win.
