Clinton Raceway: Velvet Stinger stays hot in Kin Pace final
Velvet Stinger ran her record this year to five-for-six after winning the C$50,500 Kin Pace final for Ontario-sired 3-year-old pacing fillies on Sunday afternoon at Clinton Raceway.
Raptors Won (Louis Roy) went to the lead from post two and carved out fractions of 27 2/5, 55 4/5, and 1:24 4/5 over the half-mile oval, with Warrawee Xpat (Brett MacDonald) going first-up from third before three-quarters and Velvet Stinger (James MacDonald) right behind her in the second-over position.
Warrawee Xpat forged her way by Raptors Won on the last turn, but MacDonald guided Velvet Stinger out three-wide on the bend, and she surged into command in the upper part of the stretch. From there, Velvet Stinger drew off, winning by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:54 3/5. Warrawee Xpat held off Creme Delight (J. Harris) for second.
