ELMONT, N.Y. – Lull and Pure Sensation, two of trainer Christophe Clement’s three Breeders’ Cup horses, put in workouts on a crisp Wednesday morning at Belmont Park. Lull, pointing to the Juvenile Fillies Turf, went an easy five furlongs in 1:02.48, getting her final three furlongs in 36.47 seconds while reaching out nicely with her ears up and under minimal urging. She began her move at the half-mile pole and galloped out six furlongs in 1:16.24. Lull just ran second in the Jessamine Stakes at Keeneland two weeks ago. “She looked very willing by me, so I was very happy,” Clement said. “I don’t think she needed too much because, as you know, I’ve been pretty aggressive with the filly.” :: Breeders’ Cup Challenge: Results, replays, charts, and more On Sept. 3, Lull won the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies Turf, two weeks after falling at the quarter pole of the Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga. Pure Sensation, who will bring a three-race winning streak into the Turf Sprint, worked four furlongs in 48.12 seconds, breaking off at the three-eighths pole and going to the wire in 35.20 seconds. He began the move with his head up and the rider maintaining a firm hold of the reins. Clement said Pure Sensation would not work again before the Breeders’ Cup. He was undecided on whether Lull would have a short breeze prior to her race. Yellow Agate, whom Clement plans to run in the Juvenile Fillies, was scheduled to work Thursday. Twilight Eclipse, preparing for his fourth consecutive run in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, went five furlongs in 1:03.26 over the main track Wednesday. He went his first eighth in 14.25 seconds and galloped out six furlongs in 1:16.28 and seven-eighths in 1:29.80. “He’s training really well,” trainer Tom Albertrani said. “I’m real excited about going to the race with him.” Albertrani also worked Ready for Rye a half-mile in 49.04 seconds Wednesday, but he is unlikely to draw into the BC Turf Sprint field.
