SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Christophe Clement-Joel Rosario show continued to rave reviews Friday at Saratoga after the potent and red-hot trainer-jockey combination did it again, teaming to win the $100,000 Coronation Cup with She’s My Type. The Coronation Cup gave Rosario his sixth stakes winner of the young meet. Four of those wins have come aboard horses conditioned by leading trainer Clement. She’s My Type’s second career stakes victory – she also won the7 1/2-furlong Ginger Brew in her 3-year-old debut this winter at Gulfstream Park – didn’t come without some anxious moments. After racing within easy striking distance of the leaders, She’s My Type found herself in some tight quarters when Artie’s Princess angled in near midstretch. But Rosario managed to find just enough room to squeeze through a narrow opening before exploding late to outfinish 7-2 Miss J McKay by a half-length, giving Rosario his third win on the card. It was another 1 1/4 lengths back to the tiring Shippy. :: Play Saratoga with DRF! She’s My Type is a 3-year-old French-bred filly owned by Clement’s former employer and mentor Ghislaine Head. She covered the 5 1/2 furlongs over a firm turf course in 1:01.67 and paid $10.40. “Sometimes we are lucky, sometimes we are not. Today was lucky,” Clement said when asked about the potential trouble his filly faced near midstretch. “And when she had the chance to finish, she showed a very good turn of foot. At Gulfstream, I kept her going seven and one-half furlongs and a mile. Then her brother [Tour to Paris] won a Group 2 in France a few months ago going five furlongs, that was one of the reasons we went back to sprinting with her.” :: DRF's Saratoga headquarters – Stakes schedule, previews, recaps, past performances, and more As for his success this meet with Rosario, Clement said “When you train in New York, you are very lucky, we have the most amazing jockey colony here. I like Joel a lot, and he’s riding great at the moment. He’s not the only one, but I use him a lot.” Clement also expressed delight in the fact She’s My Type is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Alec Head. “He lives in the Bahamas now and was watching the race live,” Clement said. “He was a leading trainer, leading owner, and leading breeder in France. He’s 96 years old today, and this was a great birthday gift. He’s an amazing man. I worked for him, and he helped me so much throughout my career.”
